I thought it would be nice to provide some advice and expectations when it comes to working with a hair & makeup artist (HMUA), whether its on your wedding day, or other special occasions!
Find someone who loves what they do!
Firstly, I believe that you should find an HMUA that is passionate about beauty and makeup. They should love their work because they will be the one you’ll with at the start of the day. Your hair and makeup artists will set the tone for the rest of the day, so if you can find someone that is excited to work with you, that energy in the morning will bring joy to the occasion.
Find someone who provides professional services!
You also need a hair and makeup artist that understands and is open to your vision. They should make you feel like your absolute best self by providing their professional services.
Hair and makeup artists are becoming undervalued despite the amount of education they have put into their work and their selection of high-quality products. And it goes without saying, you should be wary of hiring people without professional licenses. Check out their website, Facebook, and Instagram to see examples of their work and testimonials from recent clients.
Also, make sure that they are providing you with a contract which will honour both parties and preserve your work together to achieve the best outcome for you.
Ask about the products!
Lastly, if you have sensitive skin or are concerned about hair and beauty products, ask what they will be putting on your skin. This is something I am particularly passionate about since having had a major health issue and now I only use certified organic products, most of which come from Arbonne, which you can read more about here, as you can also buy these products from me, if you find something you particularly like.
I hope these tips were helpful, let me know in the comments!
